Burlington, Vermont is one of New England’s favorite destinations. With great outdoor adventures and downtown Burlington, it’s a playground for scientists and other travelers alike. You will find lots of fun things to do with your child. Cruise along the shores of Lake Champaign on the Burlington Greenway and stop for a local brew at one of the city’s many dog-friendly breweries. Burlington brewpubs like Foam Brewery and Zero Gravity Craft Brewery allow dogs, while places like Switchback Brewing Company allow dogs on kennels. One of New England’s most popular pedestrian (and puppy) markets, Church Street Market is full of dog treats and bargains. Being pet-friendly, Made Inn Vermont is a great bed and breakfast within walking distance of downtown Vermont that allows you and your dog to feel right out of the house.

There’s no better place to spend a summer’s day with your dog than Cape Cod! With miles of beautiful beaches, charm, and countless outdoor activities, Cape Cod is the perfect summer destination for people and dogs alike. You especially enjoy visiting Cape Cod National Seashore. These sun-kissed sandy beaches and trails will keep dogs busy even in high season. Then quench your thirst at Province City Brewery. They’re very friendly (and socially conscious) and have a dog in the beer garden that says, “I bit a racist.” There are also several pet-friendly areas. Clean up your mess at Chatham Bars Inn, Chatham Bars Inn, or “check in” with your dog at Nickerson State Park Campground.

Cape Cod National Seashore is just one of the many reasons to visit Cape Cod with your dog.

For a beach vacation with your dog, check out Cape Elizabeth, Maine. About five miles south of Portland, it’s a great place to get away from it all without going off the beaten path. Just south of Fort Williams State Park is the Portland Lighthouse, which has a large grassy area where dogs can run and play. Of course, you can’t visit Maine without trying the local lobster rolls, and Bits Into Maine has a food truck lined with pet-friendly picnic tables at the park. Higgins Beach is a favorite place for pups to cool off in the sand and jump in the water. After a long day at the beach in the sun, Inanda by the Sea, a luxury beachfront resort, caters to both pets and their owners.

Provincetown Is Most Pet Friendly

You and your dog will love exploring Nantucket together. This tiny island off the coast of Cape Cod has no traffic lights and plenty of New England charm. From the moment you step aboard, you’ll have plenty of pet owners, and Nantucket is a welcoming place. Choose from a variety of friendly activities, from hiking Sconset Bluff to exploring historic lighthouses. There are plenty of dog-friendly eateries in town, including breakfast hotspot Black-Eyed Susan and eco-friendly American Bistro Queequeg. Stop by the Brass Lantern Inn, a quiet bed and breakfast that welcomes four-legged friends with pets in select rooms.

Northeast Vermont desperately needs a dog-friendly town. Known as the Ski Capital of the East, Stowe attracts visitors from far and wide to its world-class resort every winter. But with plenty of outdoor activities every season, Stowe is a great place to relax with your dog.

For a great hike, Smuggler’s Notch State Park offers miles of trails through spectacular views of the Green Mountains. For something a little easier (but fun), you can take your dog for a walk along Stowe’s Recreational Trail. This 11-mile paved trail includes dog-friendly restaurants and breweries. Here are dog-friendly spots for every budget. Luxury resorts such as the Trapp Family Lodge, Topnotch Resort, and the Lodge at Spruce Peak offer animal comforts. If you’re looking for something more affordable, consider staying with your dog at a field guide lodge or stochhof.
