In September, a deadly disease affecting mainly rabbits was detected in Singapore, and AVS said it would work with veterinary clinics and distributors to import and register the vaccines.
In general, guidelines recommend giving adult dogs and cats a booster vaccine within one year of the last dose of the initial puppy or kitten vaccination.

While core vaccines are generally given at annual booster intervals, the guidelines state that veterinarians may recommend different vaccination frequencies after evaluating the pet and discussing it with owners.
Veterinarians interviewed by TODAY also said they would set vaccination schedules based on their assessment of the animals.
As for Ms Lim, she vaccinated her dogs when they were puppies, and then again every other year until they were five years old. “I realized that annual vaccinations are not necessary,” she said.
Her dogs undergo annual checks and she will vaccinate them if they have been exposed to high-risk factors, for example if they have had to travel abroad.

He said pet owners who have misconceptions can refer to the guidelines and ask their veterinarians for more information.
“At least there’s a proper official briefing,” she said. “I don’t want them to go online and Google all these diseases (and prevention methods). “We don’t really know who they turn to to get the information they need.”
